2009 Midas Awards Announces Call For Entries

February 17, 2009 - New York: The Midas Awards, the only competition to recognize excellence in financial services communications on a global scale, officially opened its Call For Entry on Monday, February 16th. Since 2001, the awards competition has provided a comprehensive view of advertising and corporate communications in the international financial community.

The Midas Awards honors advertising in banking, brokerage, insurance, mutual fund, and credit, in addition to, real estate, accounting and consulting. This prestigious financial award competition focuses on four distinct areas: Consumer and Business-to-Business Communications, as well as Corporate Communications, Craft and Technique and Best Use of Medium.

The Midas jury is comprised of award-winning international client and agency leaders from creative and marketing disciplines, in addition to respected experts in finance and communication. The 2009 Midas jury includes: Martin Behm, Senior Consultant/Creative Director, Hallvarsson & Halvarsson, Stockholm, Sweden; Eduard Bohler, Creative Director, WIEN NORD, Vienna, Austria; Simon Lee, Creative Director, Lavender*, Sydney Australia; Prasanna Hegde, Creative Director, BPG Group, Dubai, UAE; and Graham Warsop, Chief Creative Officer, The Jupiter Drawing Room, Johannesburg, South Africa.

Jury members participating from North America are: Shelley Sutherland, VP/Creative Director, Rapp Collins, Toronto, Canada; Beverly Bethge, Partner/Chief Creative Officer, Ologie, Columbus, Ohio; Robert Frost, SVP/Creative Director, McCann Erickson, New York, New York; Gary Topolewski, Partner, Topolewski, Ferndale, Michigan; and Luis Pedro Gonzalez, Group Creative Director, Draftfcb, Mexico City, Mexico. Additional jurors will be announced.

The 2008 Midas Awards competition awarded entries from twenty-four countries spanning five continents. Silver Ingot Award winners included: the United States receiving seven Silver Ingots, Germany and South Africa each took home five Silver Ingots, in addition, The Netherlands, Malaysia, England, Hong Kong and New Zealand were each awarded one Silver Ingot.

Last year's Midas Awards competition received entries from twenty-four countries, spanning five continents. The Jupiter Drawing Room, South Africa was awarded the distinguished Midas Grand Trophy for Best Direct Mail campaign for their client ABSA Capital. Midas Gold Ingots were awarded last year to the following companies: Velocity Films, South Africa; MUW Saatchi & Saatchi, Slovak Republic; McCann Erickson, USA; and Ologie, USA.

The Midas jury is comprised of international client and agency leaders from creative and marketing disciplines as well as international experts in finance and communication. Midas Awards jury members award Gold and Silver Midas Ingots to the highest scoring entries in each category. Grand Midas are selected by the Board of Judges and Advisors as the "Best of Show".
