New York, NY – August 25, 2011: The Midas Awards, honoring advertising in banking, brokerage, insurance, mutual funds, and credit, in addition to real estate, accounting, and consulting announced today that it will release the second annual Midas Report. Unveiled in 2010, the Midas Report recognizes and ranks the most successful companies in the financial advertising and marketing communications industry. The upcoming report will be released in early December following the selection of the 2011 Midas Award winners by the Midas Awards Grand Jury.
The Midas Report uses a creative ranking system based on points earned for winning entries and provides a historical account of the highest ranking companies within the competition. Midas Report points are calculated as follows: King Midas Award, 9 points; Gold Ingot Award, 6 points; Silver Ingot Award, 4 points; and Finalist, 1 point.
Last year, the 2010 Midas Report announced that The Jupiter Drawing Room South Africa led in the ranking report with a grand total of 36 points. The Jupiter Drawing was also the most awarded agency in the 2010 competition, earning two Gold Ingots and five Silver Ingots.
In addition to the inaugural Midas Report, a 10 Year Midas Awards Anniversary Report was created in 2010, honoring the most creative and accomplished companies throughout the history of the competition. The Jupiter Drawing Room was the top ranking company on the The Midas Report, 10 Year Anniversary with a total of 147 points.
Graham Warsop, Chairman of The Jupiter Drawing Room (South Africa) had this to say about the Midas Report: “At The Jupiter Drawing Room we’ve always adopted the attitude that financial services advertising can be as creative and innovative as the more sexy sectors, if one approaches it with the correct mind set. It’s very pleasing for our agency staff and our clients that we’ve won this accolade against such strong competition. Whilst recognition on an annual basis is welcome, it’s particularly satisfying to be recognized for a consistent performance spanning a decade.”
In 2010, McCann Erickson NY, USA was the King Midas Award recipient for “The Priceless Gift Finder” for client MasterCard Worldwide. McCann Erickson garnered 30 points on the Midas Report. King James Cape Town, South Africa was tied with 30 points. In addition, DDB Johannesburg, South Africa received 24 points, and Wiktor Leo Burnett Bratislava, Slovak Republic received 16 points. New Midas Grand Trophy
As you may have noticed, the Midas Awards have been redesigned. We started with a new Gold Midas Award trophy, plated in gold and with the look and feel of a real gold ingot. We also introduced a Silver Midas Award with the same design.
We have now created a new Grand Midas trophy. It is a handsome bust in classical style, based on a stone head from about 700BC excavated in Phrygia (Turkey) and thought to be a likeness of the actual King Midas. This striking trophy is in white marble on a black onyx base, and stands about 9" high.
We hope you will have an opportunity to display one these in your trophy case in the not-too-distant future! Read More...
